We discovered a derelict house dating back to 1345 in Rhodes’ Medieval Town and transformed it into a hotel. During its restoration, we fell deeply in love with the building, its history, and the people who once lived within its walls.
More than a hotel, Kókkini Porta Rossa offers a boutique experience — a design delight where old-world beauty, quality, and style are perfectly matched with modern touches and comforts. Perfectly situated within the walls of the Medieval Town, this proudly restored 14th-century knight’s residence, with its antiques, artefacts, and carpets, is a luxurious sensation. Six beautifully appointed, spacious suites reflect a passion for comfort, décor, and refinement.
Every detail has been carefully considered — from the captivating artworks and colourful courtyards to the gleaming silverware and dramatic bathrooms — all belonging to a class far above the ordinary. Each morning, a multi-course breakfast of regional delicacies delights even the most discerning palate. As evening falls, the garden takes on a warm, inviting glow. Complimentary wines and drinks are served while guests exchange the day’s highlights and restaurant suggestions for the night ahead. For us, the greatest rewards are the pride we take in our Philoxenía — the genuine hospitality extended to our guests — our positive impact on the community, and our care for the environment.
Philoxenía: a value sacred to the ancient Greeks — the warm and generous hospitality offered to those far from home.
